Overview

UDC (Unione dei Democratici Cristiani e di Centro = Union of Christian and Centre Democrats)

In 2002 finally the CCD and CDU merged to form the UDC, including also the recently formed DE (Democrazia Europea). Originally part of Berlusconi's coalition (Casa delle Libertà), the party moved away from him, in particular after several splits had occurred. The most relevant split happened in 2008: a new party under the name Rosa Bianca (White Rose) was formed.
The original logo of the UDC combined the symbols of the three forerunner parties, but focused on the cross shield reminiscent of the ancient DC. Later versions added a red chief with the inscription of the party leader's name (Casini). The main flags were always white with the respective logo. [2,3,4,5,6]
